Established in 1991, The Shootist not only serves as a purveyor of guns, ammo, and cowboy necessaries, but also serves as a curator of a lifetime collection of valuable firearms reflecting a bygone era.
Eighteen years ago, The Shootist began as a small gun shop in Murrieta. As each of our customers recommended our store to their friends, our shop continued to grow. Today we’re one of the largest FULL LINE - FULL SERVICE gun shops in Southern California! We're here to offer you an unbeatable combination of friendly service paired with years of firearm knowledge and a fantastic array to choose from. WE HAVE OVER 2000+ GUNS IN STOCK AND OUR SELECTION CHANGES DAILY! Whether you’re a first time gun buyer or an avid collector we’re here to help every step of the way.
Our focus is on you, the shooter. We feature a wide array of holsters from Galco, Bianchi, DeSantis, Uncle Mikes, Fobus, Triple K, and CSM Tactical Gear. We also carry custom cowboy rigs from M. Shelhart & Co., as well as real vintage cowboy holsters. For transporting your guns, we stock gun cases from Bulldog, Sportlock, and Strong Case, as well as premium cases from Kalispel and Americase. If reloading is you passion, we carry supplies and some equipment for those that like to hand load. And, if we don't have it we can get it here within a couple days. For the Law Enforcement community we offer special pricing on firearms, including assault weapons.
We offer you one of the best selections of optics around, with scopes and binoculars for every budget from Pentax, Bushnell, Leupold, Simmons, BSA, Kahles, and Swarovski. For shooting on the move, we have red dot sights from BSA, Tasco, and other makers. And night conditions aren't a problem when you use the laser sights we have from Crimson Trace, or any of the SureFire or Streamlight lights that we stock. Looking for a good knife? We carry models from Kershaw, Columbia River, Cold Steel, Buck, and Benchmade. We have cleaning supplies from Birchwood Casey, Hoppes, Kleen Bore, and Shooters Choice, Tetra, HKS speedloaders, snap caps, Otis targets, Shoot.N.C targets...in short, we have just about any accessory you'll need. 
We also enjoy the challenge of finding things that most shops can only dream about. We've had Annie Oakley's guns in our store. We've also had Wild Bill Hickock's guns. Somebody once asked us if we could get John Wayne's saddle, and we did. We always have a variety of these sorts of collectibles on hand, so you'll want to stop in often to see the latest.
When it comes to guns, we can't be beat. We have the largest inventory of used firearms in the region. We carry firearms from names such as Beretta, Sako, Tikka, FN, Kahr, Auto Ordnance, Anschutz, EMF, North American Arms, CZ, Cimarron, Charles Daly, Glock, Thompson Center, Bushmaster, Browning, Taurus, Marlin, Remington, New England Firearms, Mossberg, Ruger, H&K, Savage, Colt, Kimber, Henry, Springfield Armory, Kel-Tec rifles, Para Ordnance, Smith and Wesson, Walther, Weatherby, Benelli, Franchi, Stoeger, Uberti, Caesar Guerini, Sig Arms and more. Infact, we are Showcase or Stocking Dealers for many of our manufactures so we’ll have a better selection for you to choose from.
We also carry an extensive inventory of Defense Spray, Stunguns, Flashlights, Optics, and an Ammunition selection that would impress anyone trying to locate that hard to find box of ammo. You’ll be able to choose from an array of accessories and supplies for hunting, competition, and recreational shooting for the whole family.
We also carry more Colt and Winchester collectible firearms than any store in the area. For those who wear the badge, we do law enforcement sales for Armalite, Rock River Arms, Colt, DPMS, and Bushmaster assault weapons. We're always on the lookout for quality used guns, so see us first for the best deal in cash or trade. We buy estates as well. If you have a private party transfer, we'll take care of that for you, at a $35 cost to your buyer. We also do out of state/online transfers for $95, which includes all fees to both us and the state.
As part of our commitment to excellent customer service, we offer you a full range of gunsmithing services. Our expert gunsmiths can handle any job, from basic cleanings and repairs to total gun restoration. Please bring your firearm in so we can have a look at it.
