When Crimson Trace introduced the burlwood laser grips, 1911 fans were delighted. However, many wanted to have the look of traditional American walnut grips. Crimson Trace has responded to that demand with the LG-401P16 walnut style laser grips.

These are all-polymer grips that have an overmolded rubber strap going around the front strap of the pistol. The activation switch is located under this strap. The polymer has a walnut color and pattern molded into it. The grips have crisp checkering. A master on/off switch lets you turn the laser off to prevent it from being accidentally turned on in your range bag or elsewhere.

Fits full-size and Commander-size 1911 pistols from Auto-Ordnance, Les Baer, Colt, KImber, Olympic Arms, Para-Ordance (some, not all, models), Springfield Armory, Sig Sauer, and other makers. Pistols with ambidextrous safeties will require a shortened right-side safety lever, which is available from Crimson Trace. Kimber models require a gunsmith to install the safety lever, unless you're skilled at doing it yourself. You can also have a gunsmith shorten your right side lever for you, instead of buying a new shortened lever, which will cost less than a new shortened lever, and will perfectly match your existing left-side safety lever.

(Note: the terms "full size" or "Commander size" refer to 1911 pistols with a full-size grip frame with a magazine that holds seven or eight rounds. The term "Officers's model" refers to 1911 compact pistols or ultra-compacts that have a shorter grip frame, with magazines that hold six rounds. To be certain which model you have, measure the distance from the center of the two grip screws on either side of the pistol. A full size 1911 will measure 3 1/16" from center to center. An officer's size 1911 will measure 2 11/16".)
