SPRINGFIELD ARMORY TRP LIGHT RAIL ARMORY KOTE PISTOL

This Springfield Armory TRP ("Tactical Response Pistol") 1911 is good looking, but it's a serious gun as well. The black Armory Kote finish and G10 grips give it imposing good looks, while at the same time providing both the finish and the grips with more durability.

The most prominent feature on this TRP compared with others is the light rail. It's a universal style rail that will accept most weapons lights, lasers and other rail-mounted devices. (Please note that Picatinny and 1913 style rails are not the same as universal rails. See photos).

This TRP 1911 also has low-profile adjustable target sights that let you dial in maximum accuracy. The sights have three tritium dots to aid in shooting in dark conditions. The adjustable sights are made by Novak, and are considered to be some of the best on the market. The rear notch and front sight blade align with just enough "air" around the sight picture to let you know that your sight blade is centered. Once adjusted, they stay adjusted, even after thousands of rounds.

The barrel is forged stainless steel for corrosion resistance, and is made to match grade specifications for superb performance. The guide rod is one piece for dependability, and has a reverse recoil spring plug.

The magazine well is widened and bevelled, allowing you to reload faster. The two supplied magazines have slam pads for quick seating of the magazine.

The trigger is match grade aluminum, with a pull weight of 4.5 to 5 pounds, a perfect weight for both combat and target shooting. The trigger has an adjustment screw for overtravel, so you can set the movement of the trigger to your preference.

The safety is ambidextrous, so there's no fumbling around for southpaws, or for shooters doing weak hand drills.

Primary use: Competition

"I love my TRP. I've always liked 1911/2011 style guns and when I started shooting U.S.P.S.A. i started out with a springfield TRP. The 42 ounces really help you stay on target an help to get a faster follow-up shot. It works really well for double-tapping."
