SPRINGFIELD ARMORY EMP ENHANCED MICRO PISTOL, .40 S&W

Springfield Armory EMP Enhanced Micro Pistol product photo

The Springfield Armory EMP ("Enhanced Micro Pistol") is a 1911 variant small enough to fit in the palm of your hand. With a capacity of eight rounds of .40 Smith and Wesson in the magazine plus one in the chamber, it gives you all of the firepower of a full size pistol in a package that's almost a third the size.

Springfield Armory didn't spare any expense in making this pistol both attractive as well as effective. It has a satin-finished stainless steel slide. The aluminum frame is black anodized to give the pistol a two-tone finish, plus a weight of just 26 ounces unloaded. The Springfield Armory logo is embedded in the wood grips. The grips are slim Cocobolo hardwood, with checkering that's not too sharp, but still giving you a good hold.

The 3" stainless steel bull barrel is fully supported. The trigger is match grade, with a pull of 4.5 to 5 pounds.

The pistol has a full length guide rod with dual recoil springs for reliable cycling.

The EMP's sights are low profile combat style, with three tritium dots that easily align in bright light as well as darkness.

Every Springfield Armory 1911 pistol is equipped with a trigger locking device. A key inserted into a hole in the rear grip strap positively locks the trigger, making it impossible for a child to accidentally discharge the gun. This system gives you a choice as to whether or not you need to lock your gun. Unlike trigger locks on other brands of guns, the keyhole is small, so that it doesn't ruin the looks of the gun.

"I purchased the .40 EMP and have taken it to the range the past two days and have been totally satisfied. Glock 40's have been my home defense pistols but recently got a Springfield pistol for a customer and read about the EMP. I am currently working on some custom loads for the pistol with the 155 gr Berry's plated bullets. I would love to get ahold of a second dual spring recoil so I can fine-tune the ejection."
