SPRINGFIELD LIGHWEIGHT OPERATOR 1911 PISTOL

The Springfield Armory Lightweight Operator 1911 is a compact, light pistol that's made for carry. Weighing just 34 ounces, it's comfortable to carry in a holster all day long. The black hardcoat anodized frame helps reduce the weight of the pistol, while the Armory Kote finish on the forged steel slide will hold up to the friction caused by inserting and removing a pistol from a holster.

In addition to being durable, the pistol is also good looking. The Cocobolo hardwood grips feature the Springfield Armory logo, and contrast tastefully with the black finish of the pistol.

An integral universal style rail allows you to mount accessories such as lasers or tactical lights. (Note that universal rails are not the same as Picatinny rails, and that devices meant for one type of rail will not mount to the other type. See photos).

Inside the pistol, there's a match grade stainless barrel, and a two-piece full length guide rod.

The sights are low-profile combat style, with rounded edges, and feature three tritium dots for low light shooting.

The thumb safety is ambidextrous for use with either hand.

Every Springfield Armory 1911 pistol is equipped with a trigger locking device. A key inserted into a hole in the rear grip strap positively locks the trigger, making it impossible for a child to accidentally discharge the gun. This system gives you a choice as to whether or not you need to lock your gun. Unlike trigger locks on other brands of guns, the keyhole is small, so that it doesn't ruin the looks of the gun.
