SPRINGFIELD ARMORY CUSTOM LOADED CHAMPION 1911 PISTOL

Springfield Armory Custom Loaded Champion 1911 with 4" barrel and low profile combat sights

This Springfield Armory Custom Loaded Champion 1911 is an excellent choice for carry, competition or just plinking. Its 4" barrel makes it more compact for carry. The low profile 3 dot tritium combat sights are a tremendous aid when shooting in low light, and the rounded edges on the sights won't get snagged in your clothing.

The pistol has a stainless steel match grade barrel for corrosion resistance, and it delivers a higher degree of accuracy than do standard barrels. The match grade "skeleton" trigger is adjustable for over-travel via a small set screw. The trigger face is ribbed for more positive finger placement.

As with all Loaded 1911 pistols, this one is fitted with an ambidextrous safety, which is helpful for left handed shooters, but also for those competition shooters who have to fire with either hand.

This pistol isn't just mechanically superb, though. It's also a beauty. The rounded slide top, lower frame "hood", trigger guard and front strap are lightly cast-textured for a matte finish, while the flat surfaces of the pistol are polished to a shiney finish, giving the pistol a two-tone look. The reddish-brown Cocobolo grips contrast nicely for a really attractive package.

Every Springfield Armory 1911 pistol is equipped with a trigger locking device. A key inserted into a hole in the rear grip strap positively locks the trigger, making it impossible for a child to accidentally discharge the gun. This system gives you a choice as to whether or not you need to lock your gun. Unlike trigger locks on other brands of guns, the keyhole is small, so that it doesn't ruin the looks of the gun.

"Wonderful balance and control of recoil. Tight groupings! Take-down could be easier, but for a fine piece like this, I don't mind! :-)"

"I would of did five stars but really hated the 2 spring recoil system in the champion. I put a kimber guide rod in and a wilson combat recoil spring in and now it is very smooth on its recoil when fired, no more ruff cycling when fired. This is now my carry gun and off duty gun.. Great weapon."

"I work for a larger police agency as a Patrol Lieutenant. I also serve as a Firearms Instructor. I make it my business to fire varying brands and models of Firearms. This weapon (as most Springfield handguns) is a superior choice and a veritable piece of art as far as handguns go. I am a 1911 man through and through. Although I don't currently own a Springfield, I will carry one eventually."

"I've had my stainless, loaded Champion for several years. I have added Crimson Trace Laser grips and carry in a Don Hume 721 OT. I feel almost naked without the Champ on my hip. I've been in two awkward situations, but the Champion greatly improved my position. Never has the Champ jammed or stovepiped, just one round after the other with no problems. I've been offered a lot more than I have in it, but it is not for sale. It is my partner."

"This is the smoothest, most accurate 1911 A1 on the Market. I am a former U.S. Marine Combat Engineer and current concealed carry license holder and I entrust my life and the lives of my children and grandchildren to this pistol. I love you Springfield designers! Thanks for being our Nation's premier quality gun maker since 1794. I have been in two civilian life threatening situations and my Loaded Champion has turned the tables in my favor both times. God bless my Marine Corps! and Springfield Armory and the Marine Corps discipline I received in firearms respect. Ooooo Rah!"

"I have had my Champion for a couple years now. It is a delight to shoot, and is exceptionally accurate. Take down and reassembly is simple. My gun has digested a little over 2,000 rounds without any issues. It is stripped down/cleaned after every outing. The owners manual does state you should not shoot +P rounds through the Champion, which is not an issue with me, but it might be to others."
