The Super Match M1A is Springfield Armory's top of the line rifle. It incorporates all of the national match rifle features, then goes them better by adding a rear lugged receiver, oversized operating rod guide, and stocks that are the maximum size allowed for service rifle competition, giving you a solid shooting platform.

This model comes with a black composite stock that stands up to rough treatment. The black composite stock model M1A's are also a favorite platform for those who want to swap out stocks and put the receiver and barrel into a custom stock like the VLTOR shown here.

The barrel is a Douglas heavy match, which is about as close to a custom barrel as you can get. It's precision-made to give you more accurate results than standard barrels. Like the National Match barrels, the Douglas barrel is "air gauged", meaning it's been measured for consistency of bore diameter from end to end, and meets more exacting tolerances than do standard barrels.

Like all Super Match rifles, this one is equipped with National Match sights. The rear sight has 1/2 MOA windage and elevation adjustments, and has a hooded aperture to prevent light or reflections from degrading the sight picture. The fron sight is a National Match style, too, with a .062" blade
